BIN BAI
OVERVIEW
Graduated with Masters Degree in Fine Art in 2004 and Contemporary Art in 2020, Bin Bai (also known as Gentsu Gyatso) lectured visual art at university for 9 years. Meanwhile, he experimented on transforming traditional Tibetan art into contemporary art through paintings, sculptures, architecture, video and animated films. His research is to discover the potential of indigenous arts and culture in the contemporary world. Being the first Tibetan who obtained the Master Degree in Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in China, Bin started his experiments on cultural self-expression and transformation on the foundation of his artistic practise. Among his works, the animated film “The Hunter And the Skeleton”was premiered in 2012 and regarded as the first Tibetan independent animated film.
